And all I can do is take a wild guess.
The computer-spawned voice gives direction —
A long list of numbers that I might press.

With phone at my ear, I’m lost in a maze
Of “press one” for this, or “seven” for that,
An on-going process that might take five days.
With phone at my ear, I’m lost in a maze
Of strange, foreboding, computerized ways.

With phone at my ear, I’m lost in a maze
Of “press one” for this or “seven” for that.
